Intellectual Property Rights/Mechanical License Info

As you are probably well aware, our industry is ever changing. And many of these changes involve copyright law with respect to replication rights for audio recordings. We Make Tapes & Discs is committed to adhering to all applicable U.S. Copyright Laws for the duplication and/or replication of CDs, DVDs, cassettes, and video tapes.

Our CD replication plants carefully scrutinize mechanical licenses for audio tracks. It is possible that any project(s) we are handling for you (including reorders) that are not original works could require a mechanical license before your CDs can be replicated. If this occurs, we will notify you immediately and you will need to provide proof that you have applied for a mechanical license for each track in question.

If you need an application for a mechanical license, you may obtain one online at www.harryfox.com, or for license quantities of less than 2,500 units, you may obtain a HFA limited quantity license at www.songfile.com. All information regarding license fee, royalty costs, etc. are on the Harry Fox website.

If you need pertinent forms, we will be glad to provide them to you. Download the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) form here or the Grant of Rights Letter here.

If you have already obtained a mechanical license, please provide a copy to us so we may include it in your file.

We appreciate your understanding and patience. If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to call us at 1-888-271-DISC (3472) or by email at csr@wemaketapes.com. Thank you.
